General Plan of Action
The following is a list of activities planned in the project.
1st Phase:
Duration: 2006-2007
• Fundraising for an Education Fund
• Collaborate with local community
• Seek support with government sectors, parastatal organizations, religious organizations, United Nations agencies, national and international student organizations, international development cooperation agencies, NGOs, companies and individuals within and outside of Tanzania
• Collaborate with private and government healthcare facilities such as the Muhimbili Medical Centre, and government HIV/AIDS initiatives such the National AIDS Control Program
• Assessment and Evaluation
• Seeking local and international collaborators
• Curriculum development for life skills programs
• Fundraising and establishment of an Education Fund
• Expand pen pal program to other schools internationally
• Formal collaboration with national and international organizations
• Preparation for child and family counseling program
• Preparation for home-based care programs
2nd Phase: Implementation
Duration: 2008-2009
Activities:
• Construction of children's home
• Construction of a health facility for basic medical services
• Implementation of the life skills programs
• Income-generating projects
• Reproductive health and AIDS prevention program
• HIV education program for women (with/without partners) attending ante-natal care
• Volunteer program commences
• Child and family counseling services
The care of children with an, as yet, incurable disease may not seem an economically profitable enterprise but economics cannot surpass a humanitarian endeavor. With the ever increasing number of HIV/AIDS infected and affected children, we expect the project to engage the larger community in caring for these voiceless and vulnerable children.
